Решение:
1. Перекачать файл.
2. Поставить OpenOffice. Он иногда лучше отрабатывает на Microsoft'овских же форматах. Был у меня случай, когда PowerPoint не мог открыть свою же, созданную ИМ ЖЕ презентацию. Помогло открытие в OpenOffice.org Impress и пересохранение в ppt-формат.
3. Снести ворд как непригодный для использования инструмент.

Поставить заплатку от микрософта на чтение файлов созданных в 2007 ворде.
